McIlrath Clears Waivers

Former first round pick Dylan McIlrath has cleared waivers and will be assigned to Hartford today. The 24 year old blueliner’s career with the Rangers is still at risk, given that he still requires another 41 NHL games in order for New York to retain his rights next year.
The move to the AHL will allow him some more playing time, after being a healthy scratch in six of the Rangers’ seven games to date, and may give him an opportunity to earn a trade to another team before the season is out.
Pastrnak Suspended Two Games

Boston Bruins forward David Pastrnak has received a two game suspension as a result of the hit he delivered on Dan Girardi during Wednesday night’s 5-2 win comeback win by the Rangers. Pastrnak struck Girardi’s head with the shoulder, and appeared to leave his feet when he initiated the contact.
Fortunately for the Rangers, Girardi was able to return to the ice later in the period after passing the NHL’s concussion portfolio, and will not miss any games
