Rangers Announce 54 Man Roster For Camp

The Rangers will report for physicals tomorrow, one day ahead of the official start to training camp on Friday.  54 players were included on the practice squads, with defenseman Yegor Rykov also expected to be added if he can overcome a sprained ankle he suffered during the recently completed Traverse City Prospects Tourney in Michigan.

There were few surprises this year, with only forward Matt Beleskey and defenseman Sean Day not receiving invites.  Beleskey has never really been part of the Rangers plans, and made just five appearances since being acquired from Boston as part of the deal that sent Rick Nash to the Bruins at the 2018 trade deadline.

Lemieux Signs On Eve Of Camp

Forward Brendan Lemieux has agreed to a one year $925,000 deal, avoiding a potential hold-out on the eve of training camp.  The 23 year old Denver native, and son of former NHLer Claude Lemieux, will join his first Rangers training camp after having been acquired from the Winnipeg Jets last season as part of the deal that sent Kevin Hayes to the Canadian team.

The left winger will earn about $500,000 more than the qualifying offer that he received in June, and about $117,000 more than his three year entry level contract that he completed this past season.  With the signing, only defenseman Tony DeAngelo now remains wihtout a contract.
