Rangers Prospects Win

The Rangers prospects kicked off the season with a win in Allentown tonight, defeating the Flyers prospects by a score of 4-2. It was far from a perfect game for either side, but there were a few prospects that stood out for the Blueshirts.

Brennan Othmann starts his first pro season as perhaps the highest regarded player in the Rangers prospect camp, and he certainly started the game that way. His puck handling and vision on the ice in the first period was clearly above his team mates, though he became less involved in the second and third. He certainly didn’t look out of place on the right wing, and he’ll look to build on that as camp proper opens.

Drury’s Message Is Clear

Chris Drury is the architect of both the successes and failures of the Rangers

Speaking yesterday at the opening of the Prospect Camp, Chris Drury talked about the need to play in all three zones, and the need to play that way throughout the regular season and into the playoffs. It echoes the comments made by incoming head coach Peter Laviolette over the Summer.

Drury further elaborated that he sees many of the additions as being in that mold, specifically highlighting Blake Wheeler, Tyler Pitlick and Nick Bonino, along with existing players such as Jimmy Vesey and Ryan Lindgren. He hopes that these players will set an example for the star players.
