All four players that the Rangers placed on waivers on Tuesday cleared today and have been reassigned to Hartford. Forwards Justin Dowling and Juuso Parssinen, along with defensemen Urho Vaakanainen and Dennis Cholowski are now expect to report to Wolf Pack training camp.

Joining them will be forward Bryce McConnell-Barker. The former third round pick in 2022 has struggled to find his way as a pro, and has been surpassed by a number of new players added to the organization through trades and graduations from Canadian juniors.

Some tough news for Rangers forward Adam Sykora today as he has been ruled out for 4-5 months after suffering a leg injury in Monday night’s preseason game against the New Jersey Devils. Sykora’s leg got caught as he and a defender went into the boards, and had to be helped off the ice without putting any weight on his right leg.

The young Slovakian had not been expected to make the opening night roster, but his injury probably precludes what would likely have been a mid-season call-up, at least until the final six or so weeks of the regular season.

The New York Rangers fell 4-3 to the Islanders on Tuesday night, giving up a 3-0 lead in the process. The visitors went 3 of 5 on the power play as they came back to beat the Blueshirts on home ice. Both teams went with NHL heavy line-ups, and for the first 30 minutes, the Rangers looked like the better team.

There were so many new numbers, it was hard to get your bearings. No fewer than seven new players dressed, and that’s not even counting Liam Greentree who played Monday. Oh and of course, J.T. Miller had switched back to number 10.
