Goaltender Spencer Martin has officially cleared waivers today, and is expected to join the five players reassigned yesterday in Hartford. Despite some goaltender gaps remaining in the league, it’s not surprising that the veteran netminder was unclaimed. Martin will be compete for a spot in Hartford, though could run the risk of spending time in the ECHL if he can’t turn his career around.

In other news, we have a third preseason game tonight. The Rangers (0-2-0) will host the Devils (2-0-0) at 7:00pm in what will likely be the last opportunity for many prospects and bubble players to make an impression.

PROJECTED LINE-UP

It’ll be the first chance to see several players tonight for New York. Will Cuylle and Noah Laba both make their first appearances, joined by Gabe Perreault on a nominal top line. Liam Greentree gets his third game, suggesting that he’s definitely caught the eye of those making decisions. Rightfully so.

In the bottom six we’ll get our first looks of the year at Tye Kartye, Joe Veleno and Glenn Gawdin. Veleno is still projected as the fourth line center at this point, and will get a spin with his potential line-mates for opening night.

There’ll be only one new face on defense, with Marc Del Gaizo making his Rangers preseason debut. Joonas Korpisalo will play his first game as a Ranger, and is expected to be play the full 60 minutes. It looks like Garand is unlikely to get another chance to impress before next Tuesday, further suggesting that the Rangers remain committed to Korpisalo as the backup.
