Quick, Wheeler Signed…Quickly

Less than 30 minutes into free agency, and Chris Drury and the Rangers have also gone some ways to addressing a couple of needs for the team. With his first two moves resulting in the addition of a top six right wing and a backup netminder.

Rangers Round Out Draft On Day 2

With four picks remaining on Day 2 of the NHL, the Rangers went big. Literally that is, selecting players 6-2 and above, adding some depth to the blueline as well as a couple of longshot forward prospects.

Blueshirt Pick Perreault

New York only has five picks in the draft this year, and only one in the first two rounds, having traded away much of their draft capital to compete in the last two playoff runs.  Still, Drury managed to hold onto this year’s first round pick, and elected to go with 18 year old right wing, Gabriel Perreault.

Drury Settles On Laviolette

After more than a month of searching, Chris Drury and the Rangers announced today that Peter Laviolette will be the 37th head coach of the team.  Laviolette joins New York after being let go by the Washington Capitals at the conclusion of an unsuccessful regular season. The Rangers will be Laviolette’s sixth franchise as head coach, and his 752 […]

Rangers Still Under Pressure

There’s one thing for certain.  The Rangers don’t want to be heading back to D.C. with a 3-1 series deficit, and so they face another must-win game on home ice tonight.  The Capitals hiccupped a little in Game 3, destroying their own momentum by taking too many penalties.  It seems highly unlikely that things will […]

Emergency Call-up Request Denied

The Rangers will be a defenseman short once again tonight, as the Rangers play their third straight game shorthanded, and potentially face one more before the return of K’Andre Miller from his three game suspension. The NHL today denied the Rangers’ request for an emergency call-up, presumably because the team could have made a call-up in lieu […]

Miller Hit With Spit Suspension

There were no breaks for the New York Rangers and K’Andre Miller today, with the league handing down a three game suspension for spitting on Los Angeles Kings defenseman Drew Doughty.  Miller can appeal the suspension and make his case to league commissioner Gary Bettman, or he can accept the term which will see him miss games […]

Math Getting Complicated On Kane Deal

It appears there’s a high likelihood at this stage, that Patrick Kane will be a New York Ranger by this time next week, when the NHL Trade Deadline passes – 3:00pm Eastern, on Friday March 3rd.  What isn’t so clear yet is how that’s going to be accomplished. If the plan is to trade Vitali Kravtsov as part of […]
