I think he has some trade value as a 23 year old who has put up a relatively decent (if not spectacular) year. You're not getting the 2nd overall pick of course, but I think the Rangers will be probably looking for a defenseman if they make the move, and you're probably looking at 2nd pair guy that is on the younger side with some team control. Don't think draft picks gets it done (which would likely be late 1st, or a 2nd rounder plus)
First of all he is right. Others should have sat before him. It’s a gutless move by Laviolette who since day one has had a short fuse with Kakko. He has been pretty solid on the Rangers this year on the Rangers best 5 on 5 line, with Chytill and Cuylle.
I saw a stat the other day comparing his 5 on 5 stats with the boy toys Zib and Kreider and his numbers embarrasses them both. And this is just another sign of a dysfunctional dressing room and team. So he’s probably not long for the Rangers as Drury will dump him instead of doing what he doesn’t have the balls to do.
This Rangers team/organization reminds me of the old prank someone gets a flaming bag of dog shit left on their porch. Instead of assessing the situation for a few seconds then acting, I think Drury will just try and stomp out the fire, which leaves you with a whole new set of problems. That said, I really don’t know how they pull out of this death spiral. I’m guessing Laviolette is the first domino to fall - maybe tonight - but then what? There’s not much ROI for the under achievers on the roster. So does Dolan axe Drury also? I don’t know. Just fasten your seat belts cause I think things are gonna get real turbulent.
