What about Lafreniere? 😉Â
Yes, I read the whole post. You have a gift for summarizing large amounts of data.

Â

Drury should be on notice. Do something or be gone come spring. He can whine about no cap all he wants but other GM’s find ways to get rid of players with NT/NM clauses in their contracts.Â

Epic fail by Drury bringing in two non physical players Roslovic and Wennberg as trade deadline playoff reinforcements, neither of who were equipped to help a team in the playoffs. They showed a video of Davidson at the end of the trade conversation, telling Drury he was going to be real happy with Roslovic. Lol. No wonder Columbus sucked. Those two were off the charts wrong types.Â

Drury has to show some courage here and do the right things this draft/free agency period. His rumoured interest in moving Trouba and his to expensive probable third pair cap hit a good step. But he also needs to shake it up on the forward lines. At present adding a top six right wing, is not the only top end issue. They have a power play problem. Basically the same five for the last three years is not getting it done in the playoffs They also have Lafreniere who has to be on the number one unit this year. And there is a question is he better playing left wing. A question raised by his  two playoff highlight reel goals resulting from him coming down the left wing, his natural wing. Things he can’t replicate coming in off the right wing. Lafreniere showed enough last season and playoffs to convince management the sky is still the limit. He needs to be placed in the best position to be the best player he can be. That’s left wing.Â
Panarin can’t go anywhere which leaves the July 1 trade-able Kreider. A guy who let’s face it has struggled to impact the playoffs. One third period hat trick aside, not much else. His board work in the Rangers end is atrocious, way too many turnovers, resulting in more enemy zone time. If a player is played that much he has to be a stud on the wall, making sure the puck by pass, carry, or chip gets out of the zone. IMO his biggest downfall, followed closely by his lack of will to win puck battles. Two things Lafreniere was pretty good at. Kreider value on the market should bring back a couple right wingers with some battle. But the important thing is Lafreniere is on the PP and playing his natural position. Anybody that played the wing in any league understands the difference. No doubt in my mind Lafreniere is ready for a huge jump in responsibilities and production, question is will Drury give him the opportunity.

Tyler Johnson to the Bruins on a tryout contract. Which he could have signed in New York and been a pretty good insurance policy if Chytill has his pretty much guaranteed concussion. And I wish no ill health on anyone. Pretty sure Johnson would have been a huge upgrade on Brodzynski and most likely will be the same money.Â
