David Carle (Denver University) - pretty wary of going the College route without any pro experience route again
Jay Leach (Kraken assistant/AHL head)
Michael Peca (1st NHL experience with NYR as assistant)
Joel Quenneville (a team that has culture issues already...)
Mike Sullivan (would still be surprised if Pit lets him go)
Rick Tocchet (sure Miller and Soucy would be real happy)
John Tortorella (don't think he can get a team to the SCF any more)
Jay Woodcroft (analytics based head coach who flamed out in Edmonton)

I like Tocchet in the hope he can get players to play like he did. Vancouver also did not exercise their option to keep him for another year. Obviously he told them he didn’t want to be there.
Sounds like Tocchet likes Philly, no surprise there. Chatter about Carle who would make the College to NHL direct jump ala David Quinn. College Hockey success is based mostly about recruiting the best players to a successful program like University of Denver. The best players and programs make a coach look pretty smart before he even runs a practice. You'd like to see some coaching through adversity in a resume, not just coaching the best. Drury's ass is hanging on his pick, he better get it right.
Sullivan out in Pittsburgh, and like almost all successful coaches had his success two cups back to back, when he had the horses. He had Malkin, Crosby and Letang. He's staring at Panarin, Zibanejad, J.T. Miller and Fox. None of whom you'd pick over the afore mentioned Penguins. Not even close. The 8 seasons after the cup winning years yielded a high of one second round playoff advancement and lost. The remaining 7 years, included 4 playoff losses in round 1, and 3 out of the playoffs. We are not talking Scotty Bowman here. Sullivan is a regurgitated form of Gallant and Laviolette. Is that the answer? Only if you believe the Rangers that Drury will have on the ice next season can win. Personally I have zero faith in Drury doing that.
Heard a rumor of Mike Sullivan with Torts as an assistant. Whoever they hire will be challenged with fixing a team that doesn't know how to play team defense with weak defensemen. Could a Sullivan(HC)/Torts(D)/Peca(O) even work? Henk had his best seasons under Torts with everybody blocking shots but they don't have the personnel to do that now. Whoever they hire I think the next 2/3 season won't produce a contender anyhow. Too many pussies.
