The Rangers today announced that they have signed Wolf Pack forward Jason MacDonald to an NHL contract and called him up. Originally drafted by the Red Wings in 1992 (6th round, 142nd overall), MacDonald will make his first NHL career start after signing with the Wolf Pack and having a strong start to the season.
Signed in order to add toughness to the Wolf Pack roster, MacDonald has managed to contribute some timely offensive for the inexperienced Pack. MacDonald has spent the last three seasons with the Pittsburgh Penguins organization, playing for their AHL affiliate the Wilkes-Barre Penguins. In 56 appearances last season, he registered 4 goals, 7 assists and 137 penalty minutes.
