Rangers Sign Defenseman Joe Rullier

Rangers Add Tougness
The Rangers announced today that they have come to terms of a one-way contract with defenseman Joe Rullier.  Selected in the 5th round of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft by the Los Angeles Kings, Rullier has spent the past five seasons in the AHL, four of them with the Manchester Monarchs.  The popular blueliner lead the Monarchs last season with 322 penalty minutes in 71 games, and was ranked fifth on the team with a +23 plus/minus rating and will likely be missed by the clubs fans.

The move comes just a week after the Los Angeles Kings signed away goaltender Jason Labarbera from the Rangers in a similar move.  Under the new CBA rules, the 25 year old 6-3 230lb Rullier will have to clear waivers going to and from the AHL and will likely get a chance to make his NHL debut with the Rangers this year.
