Weise Clamed by Canucks

The Rangers took a risk in trying to send down Dale Weise to Connecticut, and the gamble didn’t pay off. The Vancouver Canucks have claimed the 23 year old forward, putting an end to a brief career as a Ranger.
The Winnipeg, MB native had already been passed over in two consecutive drafts by the time the Rangers used a fourth round pick – 111th overall – to select him in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, signing him to a contract in September that same year.
Avery Waived

Per Larry Brooks on Twitter, Sean Avery has been placed on waivers, This means Erik Christensen will get the 13th spot and Avery will be reassigned to Connevticut if he clears by noon tomorrow. The move is moderately surprising given Christensen’s so-so form in the preseason, but Tortorella and Avery have never seemed to be able to get on the same page.
The Grate One had been a healthy scratch the past two games, while Christensen had played both against HC Slovan Bratislava and EV Zug.
