Staal Skating Again

Marc Staal has had it tough in recent years, what with a concussion, a broken foot and now an eye injury.  But the 26 year old got back on the ice two weeks ago and says he’s training hard for the upcoming season.

In talking to Jim Cerny of Blueshirts Extra, Staal called it “one of the more normal summers” and said he is feeling completely healthy.  Interestingly enough, there was no mention of whether his vision was still troubling him, which may or may not be an issue going forward

Zuccarello Re-signs For 1 Year

Restricted Free Agent Mats Zuccarello has agreed to a one year contract worth $1.15M, just one day ahead of his scheduled arbitration hearing. The 25 year old Norwegian born winger has played 67 regular season games for the Rangers over the past three seasons, and a further 13 in the playoffs, but still is yet to cement a spot in the side.

With two of the Rangers top four wingers in Carl Hagelin and Ryan Callahan likely sidelined to start the season, Zuccarello will be looked to replace some of the missing offense, along with free agent signing Benoit Pouliot.
