Chris Kreider is working out, but is yet to return to skating with the team.  Sidelined with neck spasms, the Rangers’ scoring leader has been ruled out of tonight’s match-up with the Bruins and appears unlikely to face the Hurricanes on Friday.

Rookie Pavel Buchnevich did practice with the Rangers in a regular jersey and will make the trip with the team to Raleigh when they leave tomorrow.  It looks like we’ll see him back in the line-up Friday when the Rangers take on the Carolina Hurricanes, a move which will likely force a roster move tomorrow.

The Boston Bruins are struggling in net, with both their starter and backup – Tuukka Rask and Anton Khudobin – out of the line-up.  Instead Boston will turn to rookie Zane McIntyre to make his first NHL start, with former first round pick – and brother of PK Subban – Malcolm Subban as the backup.

McIntyre allowed 2 goals on 17 shots after replacing Subban halfway through last night’s 5-0 loss to the Wild.  Subban himself made just his second NHL appearance, but was pulled after giving up three goals, and will start the game on the bench.

Going into the season, you could be forgiven if you didn’t immediately recognize the players on the ice. Eight players have earned their New York Rangers debut so far this season, or to put it another way, about one third of the roster used to date.

The additions have come a number of different ways, with four veteran free agents added, one draft pick, an unsigned draftee and two trades bolstering the team after their first round exit last season.  Perhaps more impressively is that each of those eight players have registered a point already after just six games.
