The Boston Bruins are struggling in net, with both their starter and backup – Tuukka Rask and Anton Khudobin – out of the line-up. Instead Boston will turn to rookie Zane McIntyre to make his first NHL start, with former first round pick – and brother of PK Subban – Malcolm Subban as the backup.
McIntyre allowed 2 goals on 17 shots after replacing Subban halfway through last night’s 5-0 loss to the Wild. Subban himself made just his second NHL appearance, but was pulled after giving up three goals, and will start the game on the bench.
Conversely the Rangers will go with Henrik Lundqvist, who will start his sixth game, missing just the 7-4 win over the San Jose Sharks.
Rask has been off skates for Boston for a week now, and his return remains day to day. Khudobin pulled up lame Monday with an upper body injury. The Bruins have lost their last three games, while the Rangers put together their first winning streak of the season with back to back victories over the weekend.
