Rangers Set To Recall Lettieri

The one-game experiment of playing Brendan Smith on the wing has ended following last night’s 3-0 loss to the Senators.  Vinni Lettieri is set to be recalled from Hartford in time to face the Monteal Canadiens tomorrow night in Montreal.

In his second year with the Rangers, Lettieri failed to impress in his first 14 games this year, recording no points and being sent down to Hartford to pave the way for the call-up of Steven Fogarty and then Tim Gettinger, both of whom will remain in the starting line-up.

McQuaid improving

Veteran defensenman Adam McQuaid is nearing return, and could be available in two weeks according to head coach David Quinn.  McQuaid has been out of the line-up since October 25th when he suffered an undisclosed lower-body injury that has kept him from playing, and he is yet to resume practicing with the team.

Acquired before the season started from Boston, the 32-year-old Canadian is in the final year of his contract and is set to become an unrestricted free agent this year.  The Rangers have managed some success in his absence, though have lost three of their last four games including being shutout by both the Flyers and Senators while giving up three or more goals in the three losses.
