All four players that the Rangers placed on waivers on Tuesday cleared today and have been reassigned to Hartford. Forwards Justin Dowling and Juuso Parssinen, along with defensemen Urho Vaakanainen and Dennis Cholowski are now expect to report to Wolf Pack training camp.
Joining them will be forward Bryce McConnell-Barker. The former third round pick in 2022 has struggled to find his way as a pro, and has been surpassed by a number of new players added to the organization through trades and graduations from Canadian juniors.
That all four veterans made it through waivers is not particularly surprising, though there was a chance that maybe a team would take a shot on Vaakanainen.
With the cuts, the Rangers Training Camp Roster now stands at 43, which includes the injured pair of Adam Sykora and Aidan Thompson. Neither player is expected to be healthy before next Tuesday’s season opener, and at least Sykora will remain on the roster until he is able to play once more.
With two preseason games remaining, that means that the Rangers will still have at least another 18 players to cut before Monday’s roster deadline.
