The New York Rangers announced Tuesday that they have signed goaltender Talyn Boyko to a three year Entry Level Contract.  Per CapFriendly.com the deal has an annual value of $850,833 for the 2021 4th round pick.

Boyko initially struggled after being drafted, playing on a Tri-Cities Americans team that had little support in front of him, posting 3.02 GAA and .901 Save Percentage in his draft year in just 14 appearances, before starting last season with a 4.49 GAA and .887 Sv%.  With things not working out for him, the 6-8 goaltender was traded to Kelowna, and his season turned around.  In 46 games with the Rockets, he posted a 2.79 GAA to go with a .913 Sv%, catching the attention of the Rangers front office.

Having attended both development camps in July and September, Boyko was included in the Rangers’ main training camp and then spent a few days in Hartford before being returned to the WHL.  He is expected to have a chance to compete for a role in the pros next year, after he’s completed his minimum commitment to Canadian Juniors.

Boyko joins a Olof Lindbom and Dylan Garand, who were both signed last year, as well as veteran Louis Domingue, who signed a two year contract as a UFA this past Summer.  The hope will be that he turns in a strong year in the WHL and competes for a chance to play in Hartford next season.
