Apparently the Canes were going to offer sheet him, but instead the teams agreed to work on a trade. Friedman says it's likely to be in line with what an offer sheet would have cost them in terms of picks...so I guess we'll see

So...reportedly the Rangers are going to sign Miller to an 8 year $60M deal and then trade to Carolina for picks...not sure what that adds up to yet, but if it had been a pure offer sheet, then Carolina could only sign for 7 and it would cost them 2 1st rounders, a 2nd and a 3rd

Well, the Miller contract will be $500k per year, and one year longer than Gavrikov's....will be interesting to see who ends up being the better signing. They also get a 1st, 2nd and Morrow as well, so there's at least that.
I think that is quite a haul for Miller the slacker... I wonder how long he will last in Carolina where Brind'amour plays fast. I think we got a better dman for less money that can play with Fox (we'll see). I wouldn't pay any where near that for Miller the slacker... I think Drury had a good day today.

Don’t like him in Carolina. Can’t forget Miller was pretty good his last year under Gallant. Every dman on the team sucked under Laviolette Cup semi finals and especially this year. And no matter what I’d never have given Miller that kind of contract til after a bounce back season. NHL contracts based on what he might do. I just hope Schneider gets the ice time he deserves. He should be healthy after his surgery and maybe we get back that hard rock he was his first season.
