This is a pacifist top 6 forward and a pacifist dman problem. Panarin is the only top six forward worth a crap this year. Going to have to cut in there and see if a move or two gets the rest going.
The D is a mess. Biggest dman plays smaller than the smallest and needs to be traded. Fox is lost, Lindgren struggling albeit with a decent level of try. Only ones playing to their capabilities are Jones, Schneider and Mancini.
Something has to give here real quick.

Kreider is the most tradable guy. Drury has to trade someone and get some new blood back and then if that doesn’t do anything, sorry Pete. Laviolette deserves a significant trade first.

Unlike others, I don’t blame Drury for this. This core group is not his. I think what hurts us more than anything are the draft busts. Lafreniere and Kakko never have panned-out to their original rankings. The first round slam-dunks that we missed in 2017 and 2018 still sting. Blow it up, hope for a good lottery pick and start over. And please find a way to get rid of Mika.
Drury is wasting his time trading Lindgren or Kakko by themselves thinking that will make a difference. He has to cut into the core of the veteran team. Thats obviously the problem, the rest of the pack is just following them. And that's the members of the number 1 power play (at least Pete still thinks so). Kreider, Panarin, Trochek, Zibanejad, and Fox. Panarin has been the best, gets a pass. The rest untradeable except Kreider and he and Zibanejad have been the worst. So its Kreider has to go and I'd be happy to see that. The definitive one way goal suck poster child. They need a gritty two way top six forward back. Doesn't have to be as dynamic scoring, more two way and combative, which would be a start. Next would be Miller who just can't seem to mature into a STEADY dman. And doesn't look like he ever will. Then you can look at Kakko, Lindgren, Smith, Vesey, ect to bring in what they need in buckets and that's balls. Would love to see Drury acquire Trent Frederics somehow.
