A big factor in the game was Rempe. Did a good job for 2.5 periods. And then he got a little reckless and with ref's scrutinizing every move he makes, off he goes for 2 and a 5. It was overkill on his part on the hit and unnecessary at that point in the game. But a couple three things at work here. One Rempe is young trying to get into the lineup and stay. His forte is force and he walks a fine line keeping it legal especially since he is a marked man. Hopefully as he matures he gets smarter and walks that line staying out of the box.
Heiskanen and every other player that has the puck along the boards, sees a forechecker coming at them and then turns to face the boards because they expect the forechecker to let up, piss me off. They are the ones putting themselves in the vulnerable position and its stupid. In the old days you never hit a guy in the numbers and you never turned and faced the boards unless it was a puck battle. You protected your self from exactly what happened with Rempe last night.
For those calling for Rempe's head he needs some mental work on his game. He proved last night he can be effective, showing improvement in his skating. He's a keeper just needs work on his exuberance. And there are a shit pile of teams out there would take him in a heartbeat.
Dallas had a 6'8" defenseman going after Berard. Rempe should've put somebody THROUGH the boards as far as I'm concerned.
Rempe has taken a few questionable penalties over a brief sample size. So what? Sending him down just plays into what the refs are trying to do to him. Lavvy should tell the refs to shove it, and give them more Rempe. The Rangers lost 11 of 14 without Rempe, so it's not like he's dragging the team down.
Rempe in + Kakko out = hockey that I can enjoy watching.
