The only stinger in the deal is giving up the first round pick. Chytill is a talent but to risky. Miller has warts but he has balls which the Rangers need against a lot of teams. This better not be the end of the trading. Rangers still need to move Kreider and get some gumption back. I don’t mind the trade.

Yeah, the challenge I see is that the NYR get older, more expensive and haven't removed their two biggest underperformers in Zibanejad and Kreider. So they use up a net $3.6M of cap space on a guy who will be 32 in 6 weeks time (he's almost the exact same age as Mika), further deplete the depth with the 1st rounder going out, and we get a guy who plays when it suits him.
I think this one will age poorly, but hopefully I'm wrong.
Meanwhile Drury has traded two members of the line that is amongst the best statistically this year (Cuylle-Chytil-Kakko)
I'll be brutally honest -- I never wanted to see him in NY ever again. If Rangers were close to the Cup this year or next two years, this move would make sense. I honestly don't see them being a serious contender over the next 2-3 years.
Surprised that Vancouver took the risk on Chytil... He is just one hit away from retirement. Giving up a first round pick sucks but I've been watching JT lately and he is no pussy and he doesn't hide behind the net in the o zone. No more pussies.

Maybe he can get under the skin of Kreider, Mika, and Panarin and either they all play better or they all demand to be traded. The later would be the best.

The key to this trade is not the Rangers got the best player in the deal, its they also got his personality and on/off ice presence. The NHL dressing rooms don't have any secrets, talk amongst opposing friends tells all. Drury should know the potential lighter he's getting for 1/2 a room of dead wood. I'm hopeful Drury is smart enough to know Kreider, Zibanejad, Panarin and now also Lafreniere need a fire lit under their collective ass's. And he acquired Miller to annoy, irritate, humiliate them into stop whining with excuses and man up. After he sets the on ice example of course. Miller was a top ten Nhl player last season. I expect this trade gets him going and hopefully this team going. Hopefully Miller is smart enough to know he has to walk the walk before he talks the talk.
Where does he play? Does Zib move down to the 3rd line with Kreider? Do you have Miller Cuylle Brodzinski? I dunno...

What will the power play look like?
Miller is good on faceoffs too and at this stage he is probably better down low than Kreider. I would like to see the PP get dirtier with Miller and Cuylle up front and maybe with Trocheck (2 centers is a good idea). Need a more north/south approach less poking and more possession of the puck.

Rangers have become to predictable on the PP and need to change the way and who does things. They have some good options now but need to not fear changing the status quo.

I am not a fan of Miller, but the Rangers are a better team today.
Chytil was not given the wing talent and ice time (pp)to match his excellent offense skills, but his injury/defensive inabilities/never hits are big risks for a team setup like the rangers. On the right team he could be a monster.
Miller will bring hitting, anger, locker room anger, high level puck skills, all the things the rangers need to move into the playoffs and get near the Cup. Pretty sure he and Trocheck are buddies. He also brings panarin like turnover numbers, foggy shifts and foggy d.
This will take pressure off zib which should help him relax.
Trading a first is a bummer, but we will see more of this now that Dolan is more involved with the Rangers. Sticking with Chytil meant no Cup. With Miller, the rangers have drifted into a slim possiblity of getting near the Cup.

Dose he help make the Rangers defensively? Probably not.
But given the market, I don't know if there were many better options available.
Can he quickly adapt to his Rangers teammates. I think so...
He is Ranger again and I will pull for him and call out if he sucks.

Ive read and have heard interviews with former teammates of JT and they all loved him. One guy said he thought he was a little hard on Peterson but still loved him
