I have questions: is Garand considered an "emergency/injury" call up as opposed to a "regular" call up? WIll he have to go through waivers if Rangers send him back down once Korpo returns?

The Waiver Rules for Garand's Return
Whether the NHL officially designates his call-up as a "regular" or "emergency" recall, he is safe from waivers upon demotion as long as he doesn't cross the following benchmarks: [1]
- Under Emergency Recall: The 30-day roster clock is frozen entirely. He would only trigger waivers if he actually plays in 10 NHL games before being sent down. Note that sitting on the bench as Igor Shesterkin’s backup does not count as a game played for waiver-exemption purposes.
Because Korpisalo is only expected to be out week-to-week, Garand will almost certainly be loaned back to the AHL well before hitting the 30-day mark or playing 10 games, allowing him to be sent down seamlessly
