Matthew Robertson News: Held out Monday
Robertson was being held out of practice Monday for "roster management reasons," Vince Z. Mercogliano of The Athletic reports.
Robertson could land on the waiver wire later Monday, or there could be a trade in the works, but either way, the 25-year-old defenseman looks unlikely to play against the Islanders on Tuesday. With the emergence of Alberts Smits, the 25-year-old Robertson has yet to get into a game for the Rangers this season and has become an expendable piece of the roster.

it’s tough for Robertson who doesn’t deserve this. Was a good soldier last year, and played pretty well for a rookie. The cause of this is not Smits, you had to expect him to make the team this year. Robertson paired with Durzi probably would have been fine. Petterssen was Drury’s mistake. No doubt urged on by Sullivan. Petterssen’s contract is NMC til end of 2027-2028 season and 15 team no trade til end of 2030-2031 all at a cost of $5,500,000 per. Petterssen cost a first round pick and he will shortly either be blocking Smits ice time or will be playing third pair. Robertson playing with Durzi probably would have yielded any results Petterssen has. Dumb dumb dumb. Might also be a warning flag for Schneider the Rangers don’t want to give up righty Morrow.
Apparently Robertson cleared waivers and is assigned to Hartford.

A lot of we liked Robertson on here myself included, But important to remember basically third pair on one of the worst teams in the league last year. Maybe a little over value here.
