He has shown flashes of skill (against AHL talent) but has a way to go before being NHL ready. I suspect this is more about there being no one else to call up at the moment.
That said, I hope the kid makes the most of the opportunity and proves me wrong.

Othmann has the skills and he will be NHL size when he fills out. But to my eye, his hockey sense is lacking at times 5 on 5. Almost all his points in Hartford have been on the PP.

Turns out Edstrom has been out week-to-week with a UBI. Apparently happened right after his return to Hartford.
