Looks like basically AHL line ups for both teams tonight.  The Devils are already in Prague, and the Rangers have all their regulars (with the exception of Quick) skating today...sooo it looks like a guy like Connor Mackey might be amongst the most NHL experienced skaters tonight.

I had to check to see if Jeremy Brodeur was Martin's biological son or was Martin Jeremy's uncle daddy.

I didn’t see one Ranger that helped his chances of making the team. Terrible effort. 99% of these guys have never had to actually tryout to make a team. And it shows. Everyone moving up the ladder in Minor hockey, then high draft picks that guarantee their spot onto junior hockey teams, or they are the best of the high school bunch, again guaranteed a spot. Then recruited into College hockey, where top recruits don’t often get cut. Then it’s reality time when Jr players graduate and College players leave to turn pro. The best of the best make the NHL the rest show up to camp, and from what I can see, they don’t have a clue how to compete and battle to EARN a position. Seemingly clueless, that it’s not how pretty you look, but from the coach and G.M’s perspective it’s all about how hard you work, and how effective you are. I don’t get it the whole team floating their way through the entire game. Maybe tired but that’s not an excuse. Should be hitting every thing in sight, crashing the net every shot, dmen hitting anything that moves and borderline vicious in front of their net. You can’t wait for it to happen trying out for a team, you have to make it happen. You have to give the eye’s in the stands picking the team, reasons to like you and want you on the team. Not one player came remotely close to that tonight.

I don't know if never having to battle for a spot has anything to do with it, but you are spot on with the effort, or lack thereof. Othmann? Not ready. I think Edstrom is a better fit, especially on a 4th line. Mancini is a pleasant surprise, but should start in Hartford playing big minutes. You have Ruhwedel as the 6th until Lindgren returns. After last night's game, the decision of the openening roster seems simple.
