Rangers closing in on one-year deal with Eeli Tolvanen
Meh
Well, he's cheap and he's been on pace for 20 goals in 3 of his 6 last seasons so it's a bit of insurance maybe if Bjorkstrand doesn't get going. Or it could be that neither of them, or both of them bounce back 🙂 Cheap contract anyway...
So Druryish. Same shit different day. Nibble nibble, grow a set Drury and find difference makers.

While I understand the Rangers need an impact player, I'm not sure there's really much out there at this time of year. I believe he's been trying to move Schneider to get help in the top 6, but that hasn't worked out because I guess there's not a good trade match right now. As for Tolvanen I think it's a decent move, he's got more even strength goals over the last three years than any player for the Rangers except for Panarin, Lafreniere and Cuylle. He also is rated highly on hits and blocked shots, so he brings that defensive side as well. I don't think he's any wunderkind, but he's a solid addition for less than half what he was making last year, so he's likely to be motivated too.
I agree... I could see a Cuylle–Laba–Tolvanen 3rd line. That line could piss a lot of people off.Posted by: @fishPosted by: @cuyllrangerSo Druryish. Same shit different day. Nibble nibble, grow a set Drury and find difference makers.

I could see this:
| Line | LW | C | RW |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Dorofeyev | Zibanejad | Lafrenière |
| 2 | Perreault | J.T. Miller | Bjorkstrand |
| 3 | Cuylle | Laba | Tolvanen |
| 4 | Kartye | Veleno | Chmelář |
| Extras | Raddysh / Rempe |
I think Finnish players are usually lb for lb pretty gritty too. He has had increased PK numbers and I like not have to put top 6 guys out to kill penalizes. He blocks shots and is not a defensive liability
If they need me to bleed, then I'll bleed for my team
Plus he is cheap and on a 1 year contract. He will be easy to move. They only have about 1 million in cap left right now.

Yeah, ultimately comes down to whether they keep 23 and who they keep, but around $900K

Well the good news with Dorkstrand (trade him during training camp please).and Tolvanen is Miller and Zibanejad shouldn't have to change their game and respective +/- play. Zib -20 and Miller a whopping -30 last season. Tolvanens -18 and Dorkstrands -14 (2nd worst on Tampa last season) fit right in on Ranger top six forward requirements. Seriously I would in fact rather have Tolvanen than Dorkstrand. My main issue with both is they will come to camp and Dorkstrand will be in the top six and Tolvanen in the middle six without ever having skated a lap in a Ranger jersey. This stings for Kartye who proved last season he was a 3rd line capable forward with the grit intangibles the Rangers need and possible upside. Is Cuylle, Labba, and Tolvanen really better than Cuylle, Labba, and Kartye? Kartye had a solid finish to the season and its like his reward is go straight to the fourth line. Chemlar another who flashed so much potential going to be a watcher minimal fourth line minutes. The only competition I see in camp is for the fourth line. .
One easy salary cap move is exchange Garand (875,000) for Korpisalo (3,000,000). Unless Garand shits the crease during training camp, he should be the backup and Korpisalo will be in Hartford in the break glass in case of injury case.Posted by: @fishPosted by: @mjolnirI think it's less than a million now.Posted by: @x10003qPlus he is cheap and on a 1 year contract. I think Korpisalo would still hit the cap for like $1.775M
