Dom Luszczyszyn's model last year predicted the rise of the Devils, and also the continued relevance of the Bruins (I paid less attention to the West). In my mind this would seem to represent the top end of what this year's Rangers are capable of

Hey the Florida Panthers squeaked into the last playoff spot last year and went to the finals.... Boston set an all-time record for points and got bounced by a tougher team....I think making the playoffs is the most important thing and seeding/home ice doesn't mean anything. Ask the Bruins

Yes, that was an impressive run by the Panthers, but no NHL wild card team has ever won the Cup.
I would feel better with home ice advantage in the playoffs, but doubt we get this. I see this team as a wild card team. I think they have improved marginally, while many other teams have improved dramatically, and I expect a few of them to leapfrog us the way the Devils have.
