Going into training camp, there was some thought that Matthew Robertson might be able to compete for the vacant defensive spot, but it appears he’s further away than many of us thought. The 21 year old was one of 19 players – mostly AHL contracted – who went sent down today ahead of games tonight and tomorrow.
The 6-4 200lb defender was thought to be a potential option if Gallant wanted to go with more size and poise, but it appears now that the competition will be solely between Zac Jones and Libor Hajek for the final spot.
Hartford start their training camp on Monday, and wil include all 19 players who were reassigned:
