Slacks Diary – July 23rd

by Ranger Extreme

I flew back to Alberta today diary. In Coach of course. I fled N.Y immediately after the “Meeting of the Minds” luncheon. The flight was both empty and bumpy. Kinda like my head. Everytime I fly I inevitably get recognized. Sometimes though I am mistaken for the guy who hosts “Worlds Most Dangerous Car Chases” That airs way too much on FOX. During the flight the luggage from the overhead hit me on my head. The effects of the blow gave me an uncontrollable urge to call RW Vaclav Nedomansky and ask him what his plans were for the upcoming season. Big Ned would be great for the Czech Line especially if Ronny decides to move Devo to the Messier line. Although he has been out of the NHL for 17 Years and is 56 he could be a steal just like my Ciger Coup of a couple weeks ago.

But realistically he will never have the upside or impact of a Zdeno Ciger. The more I think of it Diary maybe Getting Big Ned would be a bit of Czech overkill. Somewhat akin to my obsession of acquiring every over age 30 Russian defenseman available to me. Plus Zdeno is my shrewdest move to date. How could you go wrong with a guy who has been out of the NHL for 5 years and has tore up the Slovakian League especially in that grueling no checking 34 game schedule that they play over there in Spain. I think I’ll hold on the Big Ned call. Things always become clearer after my meds kick in. Plus I want to be prudent by not making a useless signing just because they come at bargain basement prices from overseas.

I called the wifey from the plane and at home it was all good news. She said some reporter in N.Y where my offices are located for some reason thinks I’m a genius. I eagerly returned home and even managed to cut the article out all by myself with my special safety scissors that J.D got me for Christmas. I had my houseboy Petr Klima read it to me out loud as my bedtime story.

Apparently this writer is about as reality based as Chuck Manson. But nonetheless he said I am building a fighting force of extraordinary magnitude. That put the biggest smile on my face diary. I fell into a deep-contented sleep. I hadn’t been that happy since my Edmonton days when I got Troy Mallette as compensation for Adam Graves.

Plus he is cheap and on a 1 year contract. He will be easy to move. They only have about 1 million in cap left right now.
