During this past week, the Philadelphia Flyers unveiled their jerseys for the Winter Classic. Ranger fans were getting restless waiting for an announcement from the Rangers. The Rangers released a statement via their Facebook page that they will be unveiling their jerseys this coming Monday at 4PM EST.
While that is very exciting, fans have something else to be equally excited about and that is the Alumni Game. Former Ranger greats will be participating in this game and we will get to see them lace up for the first time in years. The Rangers have released their roster for the game.
Forwards: Adam Graves, Mike Gartner, Glenn Anderson, Darren Langdon, Stephane Matteau, Nick Kypreos, Darren Turcotte, Kris King, Brian Mullen, Paul Broten, Ron Duguay, Nick Fotiu, and Pat Hickey.
Defenseman: Brian Leetch, Dave Maloney, Ron Greschner, Tom Laidlaw, Dale Purinton, Darius Kasparaitis, and Mathieu Schneider.
Goalies: John Vanbiesbrouck and Dan Blackburn
Coaches: Mike Keenan, Emile Francis, and Colin Campbell
Off-Ice Ambassadors: Ed Giacomin, Rod Gilbert, and Harry Howell
You may be shocked not to see Mark Messier and Mike Richter, but rest assured they are doing everything they can to play. Messier will be undergoing shoulder surgery in December and hopes to play. Richter is consulting with doctors and deciding whether or not to play because of concussion issues that may arise again if something were to happen.
The Alumni Game will be played at Citizens Bank Park on December 31st at 1:00PM and will be televised on Versus.
