It's fair to say that the market for Centers and Right Wings this year has been pretty putrid....low value and high cost. Rangers also limited in what they can do given their relative lack of B level prospects and 2nd/3rd round draft picks which have been used heavily over the last two years to acquire players

Pacioretty is a flavour deadlineguy been traded a few times. The problem is he never helps the new team accomplish anything.

In short, this is a guy who oozes skill with the puck; he can dangle, make a nifty pass, and has a quick, deceptive release that can surprise NHL goaltenders. The problem with all of this is, he hasn’t yet put it together consistently enough to make up for his glaring mistakes on the defensive side of the puck, which are too frequent in his game. Couple that with the fact that he’s no longer a budding recent first round pick (he’s 26 years old) – and it’s easy to see Jack as nothing more than what he’s shown: a half point-per-game, middle of the lineup center, who leaves a lot to be desired in the detail side of the game.

One might say the deadline dud is a show of confidence for Kakko and it’s his 1RW to run with. I don’t mind Wennberg and he is the only other possibility with the two guys who don’t play nice, and of course he shoots left, Roslovic, has to clean up his two way play to be in the mix. Playoffs will be short and not so sweet if Zib’s line doesn’t score 5 on 5.
More than a couple teams strengthened themselves. Notably Carolina. Igor is going to have to be all galaxy if the Rangers are going anywhere. Going to need a schedule break or two along the way..
