Incoming!!! Rangers get Dorofeyev?

• Two firsts and a third. I’m not sold on Dorofeyev. Only time will tell.  

So it's the 26th over all, 92nd and a 2028 top 10 protected 1st.  They can potentially get that second 1st back in a Trocheck trade, and the cost is not so bad (they resigned him for 7 years at $11M).  Has 35+ goals in each of his last two seasons, though 33 of his 72 came on the PP, which means he's replacing someone there or seeing his production going down.

I don’t much like anything about this deal. Didn’t see anything about him in the playoffs to think he’s going to be a warrior in the playoffs. Panarin all over again, regular season phenom, playoff plug. The way Drury is going trading Trocheck won’t bring back a first. 

Led VGK regular season scoring but disappeared vs Carolina (6 GP, 2 G 0 A 2 Pts -1). At least he shoots more than Panerin but I worry he is yet another soft player.

Also Dorofyev line mates vs Carolina were Eichel and Stone/Barbashev. Rangers don’t have that talent to get him the puck (Eichel) or put pressure on the D to open up space for him (Barbashev on offense, Stone on forecheck). Bottom line nice player but is going to need better supporting cast that the rangers have. 

Dorofeyev 2026 playoffs... respectable

This guy must be good to warrant a $10 million a year pay raise.

He scored in the first two rounds and not so much against Carolina. A guy named Panarin had the same habit. I see a softie, needs a good setup man to do all the work. Top six now, him, Zibanejad, Lafreniere, Perreault, Miller,  Cuylle or whoever, what opposing team does that scare besides none. The  negative thing that jumps out for me last season 37 goals but a whooping 20 on the Power Play. The guys a tapper standing around waiting for a pass on his stick he can put it in the net.  

I'm okay with Dorofeyev, but I do think they need another wing, and probably someone who can push Miller out of the top six ultimately, though I expect they're going to keep trying to find a way to get Miller going to the detriment of the team.  I'm okay with the move, but ideally they need another center, otherwise it's going to be Trocheck and Miller along with probably Dorofeyev and that's just a line of left overs IMO.

They also need to find a guy who can be an upgrade over Borgen/Schneider on the right, and hope that Robertson can build on last year to make the left side somewhat stable.  If Smits or Fortescue play the third pair and can be average, then they might have a shot...at least to get to the edge of the playoffs.

The Miller trade still reeks for me, just the wrong move at the wrong time, and now we're stuck with him for 3 more seasons...and hoping that Perreault and Lafreniere can break out...and Fox can stay healthy.

disagree  - The Car system strangled the VGK  - VGK only scored 18 goals. Eichel 0, Barbashev 1, Stone 2, Marner 3. The top was Howden at 4.
