About a couple of weeks ago, we took a shot at projecting lines they’d look at in camp, and it looks at least for now like they’ll be the starting point for camp. With camp under way today, the first set of lines got a run in scrimmage, with the team looking the same as we projected.
With an excess of left wings, it looks as if they’ll try Alexis Lafreniere on the right side to start with, and it appears as if Kaapo Kakko will get a chance to once again build some chemistry with Artemi Panarin and Ryan Strome. On the third line, the odd – though predicted – combination of Vitali Kravtsov, Filip Chytil and Barclay Goodrow is getting a first look, and finally Sammy Blais looks to have the inside track on the last spot on the fourth line with Kevin Rooney and Ryan Reaves.
Unsurprisingly, Nils Lundkvist looks like he’ll get first shot at winning the final defensive position, over Zac Jones and Braden Schneider.
