Larry Brooks of the New York Post reports today that pending RFA defenseman Matt Gilroy is expected to get a multi-year contract offer, at a significantly discounted rate from the league mandated qualifying offer he would need to get in order for the Rangers to retain his rights.
In Gilroy’s case, he’d be due a one year $2.1M offer or become an unrestricted free agent. Up until July 1st, the Rangers can also attempt to resign him to an extension at a reduced rate.
