NYC Native Greco Joins Rangers on 2-year Deal

Queens native Anthony Greco has agreed to a two-year contract with the New York Rangers.  The 27 year old right wing has appeared in one NHL game to date and looks slated for duty in the minor leagues at this stage of his career.

Signed by the Florida Panthers in 2017 as an undrafted free agent following a one-year stint in the AHL, Greco has played almost his entire pro-career in the AHL.  Last season he was traded twice, first to Tampa, and then four days later on to Saan Jose.

In the one game he did appear in the AHL, Greco recorded a -3 in just over 9 minutes of ice time, making it the kind of debut to perhaps forget.  At the minor levels, he’s known more for his goal-scoring than his defensive play or his passing, which is not the type of player you’d expect the Rangers to be looking for, even to fill out the Hartford roster.

There seems little chance we’ll see Greco on the NHL roster at any point during the two seasons.
