Training Camp got under way today for the New York Rangers, with 33 players on the playoff roster. The list includes the injured Micheal Haley – recovering from mid-season surgery, as well as the now-healed Chris Kreider.
The list includes four netminders, ten defensemen and nineteen forwards, though blueliner K’Andre Miller will not continue on with the team past camp as he is ineligible to play on the roster until next season. With Miller and Haley non-starters, that leaves the team with a group of 31 to cover off the grind of a qualifying/playoff series which could span into the start of October.
A handful of the players did not make an appearance during the regular season, including forwards Danny O’Regan, Vitali Kravtsov and Vinni Lettieri, defensemen Brandon Crawley and Darren Raddysh as well as goaltender Adam Huska.
The Rangers are set to open up their best of five qualifying round series against the Carolina Hurricanes on August 1st, just 19 days away, with games also scheduled for August 3rd and 4th, as well as the 6th and 8th if necessary.
