Troy Donnay

Rangers Sign Towering Defenseman

According to Capgeek the Rangers have signed undrafted defenseman Troy Donnay to a three year entry level contract.  The 6-8, 185lb Donnay played for the Erie Otters of the OHL last season, and recorded 1 goal, 7 assists and 48 penalty minutes in 68 games.

Donnay is heading into his fourth season in the OHL, but at age 19 has only played 143 games over the preceding three years, with just 2 goals 15 assists and 104 penalty minutes in that time.

The US born defender recently attended the Rangers’ prospect camp, and apparently made enough of an impression to earn a contract.  He becomes the second player from camp to earn a contract, with goaltender Jeff Malcolm also being signed to an AHL contract.

Per GoErie.com, Donnay will attend the Traverse City Prospects Camp along with the Rangers in September.
