Slacks Diary – Weekend

by Ranger Extreme

It was a meeting of the minds today diary. I broke down and decided to visit my N.Y offices and even stay for lunch this time. I flew (as always) in coach to the Big Apple (Which I loathe) where I had lunch with Crylander General Manager Mike Milbury today. After Mike paid for the cab he began telling me that a special guest would be joining us at our table. I just love surprises diary. That’s why I am still waiting for someone to fallout of the sky to help Ricky with the goaltending workload. I think Ricky can handle it though no matter what the doctors say. It’s only back to back Knee surgerys for godsakes.

During our “Meeting of the Minds” luncheon Iron Mike and me talked about his blockbuster acquisitions and he told me they are having problems signing both Peca and especially Yashin. I then began to reel off my blockbuster signings to him Ciger, Krappa and Ulanov and that’s when Mike nodded asleep face down in his soup. Lucky for me the surprise guest arrived and resuscitated Iron Mike. Mike introduced me to what he said was one of my N.Y contemporaries. He said the guy was the GM of the Mets Steve Phillips.

Steve and me hit off right away diary. We had a lot in common especially when he said the team he GM’ed was presently way under .500 and struggling to make the playoffs. I definitely could relate to him and we soon struck up a friendship while Mike was on his cellular yelling at Peter Laviolette. Steve went on and on about his own personal “Offseason of Nothing” that had disappointed his fans and led his own team to utter futility. I took a verbal jab at him about how I heard one of his FA signings pitcher Steve Paxil who he overpaid for was a complete bust. He then retorted well at least my busts stay healthy and suck. Your free agent busts suck then get hurt after 3 games then miss the whole season. Someonem probably Mike, had told him about Maladog!

I have to say diary this Steve Phillips was almost as in tune with his job as much as I am. This guy was sharp, I was impressed. At that point Iron Mike began having an argument in Cantonese with Icelander owner Charles Wang. I think it was about Wang’s forcing Mikey not to draft yet another goalie in last month’s draft.

Well diary I have to go now. I have to take my medication then meet the wifey to discuss maybe having my frontal lobotomy reversed. These nightmares of Kloucek getting beat by Jagr one on one at MSG are increasing.

Plus he is cheap and on a 1 year contract. He will be easy to move. They only have about 1 million in cap left right now.
