Reports of his demise apparently were premature. Sean Avery has reportedly been placed on re-entry waivers and will be available to the team Thursday should he clear re-entry waivers. Given Avery’s statement that he wanted to play no other place than New York, it would seem unlikely that he’ll be claimed – but well have to wait for confirmation.
In the mean time the Rangers recalled Andre Deveaux from Connecticut, and he will play Monday if Mike Rupp is unable to go. Deveaux has played just 22 NHL games in his career, and is the only Bahamanian born player ever to make it to the NHL.
His stay with the Rangers will likely be short, unless Wojtek Wolski attracts a suspension or the Rangers lose another forward to injury.
