Trade/UFA Ideas
Throw your NYR trade & UFA ideas out here:
Do we need to take some risks?
At this point with this team there are no bad ideas and after trading Trocheck there will be plenty of cap space.
Braden Schneider and the #5 to the Sharks for the #2?
Sign UFA D man Darren Raddysh? Prolly have to overpay.
Sign UFA RW Anthony Mantha? Big boy Ranger killer.
Connor McDavid wants out of Edmonton...He wants to go to Toronto but would you throw say:
Adam Fox, Vincent Trocheck and Igor Shesterkin in a trade for the consensus best player in the NHL? It would take something like that to get a McD.
Just havin' some fun spit ballin' here.
It is my feeling that you have to move on from non physical players if you want deep playoff runs.
BTW I am really impressed by the Vegas Golden Knights right now and I say that because they show that you can pull together a really good team with some good moves and have a good coach and organization. Brett Howden looks like a Conn Smythe candidate FFS.
If they need me to bleed, then I'll bleed for my team
And I hear Dylan Larkin wants a trade...He's better than any body we got
If they need me to bleed, then I'll bleed for my team
This is just my personal take:
Don't understand the sudden obsession with Raddyish as he's only put together this one good season.
I think Larkin and McDavid are a reach at best......I don't see Oilers trading McD until last year of contract; plus he has full NMC and has indicated he wants to go where he has the best chance of winning (sooner rather than later). That ain't here (or Toronto).
Wings will trade Larkin....he also wants to go where he can win. I don't see any kind of package whereby Rangers win a "Larkin sweepstakes" -- unless, of course, you get one of the clause holders to waive.
Drury has made his bed at the Center position. Zibanejad as a 1a-1b especially with a Larkin. But after Miller's late season proclamation he likes, and plays better at center, he's stated his case. Miller wants to play center. But Miller is not a 1a-1b center any more. Only in Drury's dreams. You add Larkin to this assuming Trochek gets traded and your also bumping Laba to the four hole and more Ranger clipping prospects wings. Sorta like Sheary playing more, let alone having a spot on the team than Chmelar in particular. I'd take Larkin over Trocheck and Miller but both would have to go. But Drury has bet his wad on and is stuck with Miller. Just another of his many bad moves.
Drury is going to have to make some magic to get my hopes up. I have zero faith in Drury or Sullivan even getting the Rangers back into the playoffs.
Any Ideas?
If they need me to bleed, then I'll bleed for my team
I can't come up with any specifics....but I suspect Rangers fans will be very unhappy with the deals/transactions made during the off season, especially if The Dolt's "mandate" is to make the playoffs. Then there are the "rumors" that Drury wants to "take a big swing".
To have a chance, Rangers will have to upgrade top 6 and second D-pair....The FA market is underwhelming at best. Team has little trade capital. It won't surprise me at all to see them severely overpay some FA scrub; nor will it surprise me if they start trading draft picks.

I don't want to trade for Larkin, Yzerman would rake us again........
De Oppresso Liber..
from the left elites
And why would the Rangers want Larkin?
Larkin is what the Rangers usually do. See Panarin. They want franchise player money and highly doubtful Larkin will have any more impact than Panarin who faded when the going got tough. Larkins record in Detroit speaks for itself. Shitty team mostly but had years knocking on the playoff door. Winners begat winning. Rangers need to concentrate on proven playoff performers as targets.
My moves Let Rempe, Edstrom, Sykora Brodzynski, and Berard duke it out for 4 line. With little doubt Brodzynski is the center. three line Chmelar, Laba and Kartye. And Zibanejad and Miller top two centers. I'm not a fan of Miller but Drury made his bed. Lafreniere, Perreault, leaving a huge hole needing two more. Especially since Trocheck has to be traded to bring back at least one top two line winger. The other maybe a guy like Mantha some size and snarl, or Greentree surprises..
Defense is worse than upfront. Trading Miller was stupid. Ask Carolina how bad he is. But back to D. Keepers Gavrikov L. To a lessor degree Robertson L, Fortescue L and Schneider R. Borgen is a guy that will be exposed as playoffs move along, in the regular season he's below mediocre at best. I know what Fox brings, he is the guy on the PP that seems irreplaceable but he also brings a style not conducive to playoff hockey as you move along from one series to another. The trade return should bring at least one younger and a lot more physical plugin righty. The two missing righties need to be warriors also needing to prop up Robertson and Fortescue. As well as one being a good pp guy. A guy like John Carlson might be a good two year bandaid.
Rangers need to look at a Fox trade. . Trading Fox should help put the Rangers back in the thick of it, especially if the G.M. could find a way to send Miller with him, not sure we have the right G.M. for that kind of deal. But should be done. Then you really want to try for a quick turnaround you have to consider trading Shesterkin, but would have to be a massive return. At this point the Rangers need to consider all options. Carolina and Vegas proving again its possible to win with below world class goaltending. Shesterkin is a formidable asset. Smart people manage assets great.
