The NHL announced today that John Moore has been suspended for five games, meaning he’ll be eligible to return to the line-up November 11th against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Moore’s hit cost him a Match Penalty in Monday Night’s 5-4 win over the Minnesota Wild, and lead to an autormatic review.
With Moore out of the line-up, it appears that coach Alain Vigneault will turn to Mike Kostka, who had a disappointing outing in his only Ranger appearance to date. Kostka was responsible for two give awayss that allowed the New York Islanders to first tie the game, and the go ahead, on their way to a 6-3 win over the Blueshirts.
With Dan Boyle still working his way back from a broken hand, it would like fall to rookies Conor Allen or Dylan McIlrath to fill in if Kostka cannot turn around his first performance.
This is the second time since joining the Rangers, that Moore has incurred as suspension.  He was suspended two games after hitting Dale Weise of the Montreal Canadiens in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals back in May.
