Rick Nash, Michael Del Zotto, Ryan McDonagh and Carl Hagelin are already playing in Europe, and Derek Stepan could soon be there as well, although there’s news today that the NHL made a concession earlier this week to the players.
Darren Dreger of TSN reported on Twitter that the NHL has changed their stance on how the parties would reach a 50/50 split of Hockey Related Revenues (HRR). Previously the NHL had proposed that the split would be achieved immediately, and players would see a portion of their contracts held back and funded over time, with those dollars counting against the player’s half.
The latest development indicates that the NHL has proposed that they would now be willing to accommodate those overages out of the owner’s share, albeit few details on how it might work are yet public.
