Sammy Blais Done For Season

Forward Sammy Blais is out for the season, having suffered a torn ACL.  The injury occurred Sunday against the Devils, when New Jersey defenseman P.K. Subban appeared to push Blais’ leg into the boards.  The 25 year old winger fell to the ice immediately, and had to be helped off the ice.

As has been the case this season so far, as one forward returns another goes on injury reserve.  Filip Chytil skated with the team this morning, and looks set to return after missing three games with an upper body injury after colliding with Blais in the 6-0 loss to Calgary ten days ago.

With Blais having been tasked to play on the top line, Gerard Gallant now has to decide whether to slot Barclay Goodrow back on the top line, or perhaps reinstate Alexis Lafreniere in that position.  A less likely scenario would see Filip Chytil make the move to wing, though the Rangers have resisted that temptation so far this season.
