Ryane Clowe

Could Clowe Be Close To Playing?

There was plenty to highlight in last night’s loss, but it ultimately came down to another sub-par night from special teams, a defensive lapse and a poor goal by Henrik Lundqvist, all in the second period.

Back on the ice today, the Rangers will now look towards evening the series tomorrow afternoon, when they face off again in Washington D.C. at 12:30pm (NBC).  The bottom line for the Rangers, find a way to be better.

A little bit of good news though, with Derek Dorsett apparently finally cleared for contact.  Dorsett practiced today for the first time in a regular jersey, although there wasn’t much contact going on from all accounts.  It remains to be seen when the former Blue Jacket might get a chance to play.

Ryane Clowe returned to the ice for the first time since getting injured in the playoff clinching win over the Carolina Hurricanes.  Clowe had begun off-ice workouts yesterday, but joined the team in a non-contact jersey today.  Clowe said he wouldn’t rule out playing tomorrow, but wants to prove he can take a hit.

Brian Boyle and Marc Staal continue to skate and could potentially be in the line-up at any time once they – and Tortorella – feel they’re ready.
