Don Murdoch’s Rookie Five-Goal Exploding Masterclass
Nineteen-year-old rookie Don Murdoch put on a breathtaking performance against the Minnesota North Stars, scoring five goals in just his fourth career NHL game during a 10-4 blowout victory. Murdoch became the first player in Rangers history to hit the five-goal mark, firing up a short-lived but legendary start to his career.
1985
Youngest Line-up In Rangers History
With an average age of just 23.80 years, the Rangers fall to the Hartford Whalers by the tune of 8-2. The young guns got off to a good start, scoring the first two goals in the first 2:05, but then give up a pair goals in each of the first and second, before Hartford blows it open in the third with four more goals. 22 year old John Vanbiesbrouck gives up 6 goals on 15 shots, while 28 year old Barry Beck is the oldest skater.
PITTSBURGH - NOVEMBER 15: Steve Eminger #44 of the New York Rangers skates against the Pittsburgh Penguins at the Consol Energy Center on November 15, 2010 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Rangers defeated the Penguins 3-2 in overtime. (Photo by Justin K. Aller/Getty Images)

Return of Eminger

The Rangers appear to have looked at the free agent market, and decided re-signing the known commodity was the better option. As predicted by Larry Brooks last week, the Rangers have signed Eminger for another year, albeit at the slightly lower rate of $800,000.

The move means the Rangers now have five proven defensemen on the roster and a number of candidates for the final position. Tim Erixon appears to have the edge for the final spot, and it would not be surprising to see another veteran defenseman or two invited to camp on a try-out basis.

Yeah, the Pettersson-Durzi pair continues to get caved in terms of Corsi, they're even worse than the Schneider-Smits pair.   While Pettersson did  lead in ice time, the top 4...

Yes I was pissed when he started the season on the fourth line. Dork can't carry Kartye's sticks.

Solid game against a team they should beat.  Nice to see Kartye and Cuylle get their firsts...two of the hardest working guys to start the season.  Nice to see Lafreniere extend hi...
