Today is the day we’ve all been waiting for. Henrik Lundqvist returns home to Sweden to play there for the first time since he left Frolunda to come to New York. Today will be an extremely emotional day for Henrik as he will be squaring off against his old teammates and will have many friends and family in attendance.
The Rangers played many of their starters yesterday in their 2-0 victory over HC Sparta Praha, so there is an abundance of noteworthy scratches this afternoon.
According to Dan Rosen, Artem Anisimov, Marian Gaborik, Brad Richards, Ryan Callahan, Brandon Dubinsky, Derek Stepan, Ruslan Fedotenko, Daniel Girardi, Ryan McDonagh, Michael Sauer, and Steve Eminger are all scratched for today’s matchup.
This will be fun to watch with the majority of the main roster being out of the game as it will give Lundqvist ample opportunity to show to his home country what he’s made of.
Today’s matchup will be on MSG at 1:00 PM EST. And whatever you do Lundqvist, don’t let Joel score on you because you’ll never hear the end of it.
