Quiet day for the Rangers, with their next game not until Saturday night. The team had the day off yesterday, but returned to practice today. The team plays it’s next three games at MSG, but then has five of the final eight games on the road. At least they’ve improved in that regard. They’ve turned around an 0-2-7 stretch with a 3-2-1 record under Tortorella.
Larry Brooks does some salary cap projections in the NY Post today, and suggests the Rangers might look to move one of their big contracts this summer. If they want to consider re-signing Nik Antropov or Derek Morris, then someone would certainly have to be moved.
Brandon Dubinsky may not be scoring, but he’s still contributing to the team’s success. Dubinsky is the middle of a 22 game goalless drought, but has nine assists over that period, and has been racking up hits, face off wins and shots.
Wolf Pack win 1-0
The Hartford Wolf Pack won last night 1-0 over the Lowell Devils. Miika Wiikman got the shutout – Matt Zaba injured a finger a week or so ago and is day-to-day. Greg Moore was injured when he was checked into the boards, and was unconscious for several seconds prior to leaving the ice, under his own power.
Checkers lose 5-3
Charlotte fell to the Florida Everblades 5-3, and remain third in the South Division. Neither Michael Busto nor Ryan Hillier featured on the score sheet. You can read recaps from the Charlotte Observer, Fort Myers News-Press and Naple News.
