The Rangers added some depth for the Connecticut Whale today, signing 6-3 220lb Andre Deveaux to a one year, $525,000 contract. Deveaux joins the Rangers having played last season in the AHL with the Chicago Wolves. Drafted in the sixth round of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft,
Deveaux has appeared in 22 NHL games, recording one assist and seventy five penalty minutes. The 27 year old holds the unique distinction of being the only Bahamian ever to play in the NHL, relocating to Canada as a child and picking up the sport while growing up in Welland, Ontario. Deveaux figures to provide some muscle for the Whale, and a call-up to the Rangers seems unlikely.
