More signings today, with the Rangers announcing that they have agreed to terms with their only two minor league RFAs, forward Gabriel Fontaine and defenseman Darren Raddysh. Both players were signed to one year $700K contracts, and will likely spend the year in the AHL, if and when that league starts play again.
Discuss in the forums: Fontaine & Raddysh signed
Fontaine was drafted in the 6th round by the Rangers in 2016 NHL Entry Draft and has appeared in 150 AHL games since turning pro in 2017. He has 21 goals and 26 assists in that time after finishing his career int he QMJHL. At this stage, it’s unlikely that Fontaine will make it to the Rangers roster, especially with the depth they have on the wings, though his resigning helps maintain some continuity with the Pack.
The undrafted Raddysh, was acquired from Chicago last year in exchange for forward Peter Holland. The 24 year old defender also has yet to play in the NHL, though has 204 games at the AHL level, split between the Rockford Ice Hogs and Wolf Pack. Like Fontaine, the odds of Raddysh being called up seem to be relatively long at this stage, though he has provided a steady hand on the back end for the Wolf Pack.
